graduated from Colegio Dominicano de la Salle in 1984 with honors and a Dominican Degree in Law from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña (UNPHU), “Cum Laude” in 1989.

Mendez Amaro has realized studies abroad regarding the “Foundation for a European Social Law”, (sponsored by the Universidad Internacional Menendez y Pelayo in Santander, Cantabria, Spain) and is being currently considered for a Masters Degree in Military History (Norwich University, in Northfield, Vermont, United States).
Mendez Amaro has collaborated for the following publications “History of the Administration of Justice in the Dominican Republic”, published by the ILANUD, an organization depending on the United Nations, under the supervision of Dr. Fernando Perez Mermen; “Factoring in Dominican Republic”, written by Ramón Franco Thomén and Guillermo M. Silvestre Gabriel; “Incidents Regarding Land” written by Teresa Binet Baldera among other publications.
He is also the author of “The Commerce Fund in the Dominican Republic”. Piece he is currently updating as well as author of several pieces and articles on law, politics, economics and history.
Mendez Amaro´s work experience includes the following responsibilities: for ILANUD United Nations, as a collaborator for the Project for Investigation of Justice in the Dominican Republic, Assistant Attorney, Metropolitan Area, Legal Affairs Division, Banco Popular Dominicano, Liquidation Commission for Banco Hipotecario Miramar (BHM) a dependency of the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic, Legal Manager for commercial society World Wide Financial Services, S.A. (WFS).
After being partner in several firms, Mr. Virgilio A. Mendez Amaro returned to the family firm project founded in 1967 as a partner, in this firm he has had the privilege of representing important local and foreign companies in corporate matters as well as in litigations.
He is a member of the Bar Association of the Dominican Republic (Colegio de Abogados de la República Dominicana), as well as the Corporate Attorney Association (Asociación de Abogados Empresariales), American Chamber of Commerce (Cámara Americana de Comercio), the Dominican-French Chamber of Commerce (Cámara de Comercio Dominico-Francesa) and the Dominican-German Chamber of Commerce (Cámara de Comercio Dominico-Alemana), among others.
